Red Snapper Season Begins Tomorrow- Report Your Catches

Tomorrow kicks off the 6-day red snapper mini season in South Atlantic Federal waters. Anglers are allowed to harvest one red snapper, of any size, per day on November 3-5 and November 10-12, and are encouraged to report red snapper catches and releases via www.myfishcount.com.

The South Atlantic Fishery Management Council and the Snook and Gamefish Foundation partnered with Elemental Method to create www.myfishcount.com, a website accesible from cell-phones while in cellular range. Data collection is critical to accurately assess the South Atlantic red snapper stock to ensure a healthy population. By reporting your catch, anglers have an opportunity to contribute to a future with better managed red-snapper angling opportunities.

All anglers have to do is go to www.myfishcount.com, sign up for the program, and log their catches and log zero-catch trips if they occur. Anglers who want to fish but can't due to weather are also encouraged to create a log for the missed trip.
